Signs You Need Cleaning Now
You should not wait for a scheduled interval if you notice dust visibly puffing from registers when the HVAC starts, a musty or dusty smell when the system runs, increasing allergy symptoms at home, or visible debris inside registers when you remove the covers.

After Renovation or New Construction
Construction dust is the worst thing for a duct system. Drywall dust, sawdust, and insulation fibers pack into duct runs and circulate for months after work is done. I always recommend a full cleaning within 60 days of completing any major renovation.
